Halloween '08 (part 2)

Halloween at Omniture is about the most overblown holiday celebration to go on at any organization on the planet. It really is over the top. Each group spends literally a few days turning their work area into something interesting to entertain the thousands of people that come to parade through the buildings on Halloween day. One group literally brought real sod into the building and constructed a miniture football field in their workspace. My team had the 1960's Batman TV show as our theme this year. We decorated our area as Gotham City and the Bat Cave. It turned out pretty well. Obviously - I was the Riddler. It was good fun and really got me in the spirit of Halloween.

Halloween '08 (part 1)

Halloween was good fun this year. Thankfully, it was not to cold but did rain a little bit. Gracie had tons of fun collecting tons of candy dressed as a witch. She insisted on being a witch despite Autumn's proddings to be something else - she eventually had to give up as Gracie was adamant. Autumn produced a great custom witch costume for her. Jared was a cute little tiger dude. Being the mellow fellow he is he just seemed to take it all in. In his mind the world just turned extremely odd for a day - he just rolled with it. I will cover myself and Omniture in part 2.

Happy B-Day!

It was Gracie's birthday this week. This is a picture of her in the new birthday outfit that she wore for her party. She insisted that her party be themed with witches and pumpkins by the way, so that's the way it was. Both sets of grandparents were gracious enough to come over and celebrate with us and spoiled her with wonderful gifts. Gracie took a long time warming up as she acted shy and wouldn't really talk to anyone for about an hour (huh?). Despite that it was a good time and the cake was great (good job Autumn!). We can't believe our little girl is 3.

Crafty!

Autumn has been bitten by the craft bug lately. She got a sewing machine a couple months back and has since then (and even a little before) has been on fire with spectacular craft projects. I think she has got a knack for creativity with this stuff. She is keeping me entertained with her various new ideas. You go girl! The above photo shows some of the fruits of her labors (no pun intended), and below is Gracie modeling some of them.

Jared loves food!

Well, that title shouldn't really shock anyone since most people love food, or at least like it. Speaking of food I tried out a new recipe this afternoon... it was a baked french toast but what really made it special was the coconut syrup. I've never made syrup before but it turned out really good. Essentially, it was like eating candy for lunch. Autumn and Gracie loved it too, and we are thinking of making it a Christmas morning breakfast tradition, because for the sake of heart health I don't think we can handle having it more that a couple of times a year.

Back to Jared. He has really started enjoying his solid foods now. Peaches, pears and sweet peas seem to be his early favorites. We are hoping getting more solids in him will help him sleep longer at night. The only thing he finds more interesting than his food is the camera.

The Dinosaur Museum

After sharing a giant banana split, Gracie, Jared and I visited the Dinosaur Museum while Autumn hit the shops. Jared pretty much slept the whole time. Gracie had a good time even though this was her second day in a row at the museum (we had free passes). She'd probably be a paleontologist if everything was just slightly less scary.

The Gardens

We checked out the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point this weekend. They are quite impressive. I was very relaxing to stroll through amongst the various flowers and ponds, and the waterfalls were awesome considering they were all man made. Gracie could have ran around on the lawns all day.
